The driver called police at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, after the driver stopped for the man, who had crashed his car in the area of Grant Line and Toste roads.
When officers arrived, the car's driver was gone. However, he was found a short time later. Two men and one woman were reportedly in the vehicle.
The driver was released from San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp some time Thursday, according to the jail website.
Tracy police received 149 calls for service Wednesday, Dec. 19. The following is a sample of those calls.
3:35 a.m.: Police were called to a residence on the 700 block of Tulare Drive where a suspected burglar was trying to force a way into the house. A man allegedly began banging on a door at the house, and the father in the home was reportedly pushing against the door, which was locked, as the person tried to get in. Two children and the man’s wife were also home at the time. When officers arrived, the man was still outside of the house. An officer reportedly gave the person a ride home. It’s unclear what happened because three lines of notes were redacted from the log. At 5:05 a.m., the log states that a pair of shoes and a jacket were found on the front porch of a residence on the 700 block of Tulare Drive. An officer returned the property to its owner.
10:41 a.m.: Officers arrested a 28-year-old man outside of Macy’s, 3400 Naglee Road, at West Valley Mall for shoplifting.
2:43 p.m.: A man was reportedly seen cutting up cardboard with a knife inside of Jack in the Box, 611 W. Grant Line Road. He then allegedly left the restaurant, stood on the street corner and threw the cardboard pieces at a passing vehicle. The knife was described as a “combat” knife. He was gone when officers arrived.
