Girls basketball: Fyfe leads Tracy to win at Stagg

Senior guard Karsi Fyfe collected 22 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Tracy High Bulldogs to a 47-40 road win, Tuesday, Dec. 18, against Stagg High in Stockton.

Tracy (6-5) charged ahead of Stagg (4-7) with a 20-point second quarter and kept the game out of Stagg’s reach in the second half.

Seniors Shelby Devlin and Shelby Perry contributed eight points each for Tracy. Junior Sarah Rodriguez contributed eight rebounds, and senior Tammy Serrato had five steals and four assists.

Kimball 44, Tracy 34

The Jaguars rode an early lead to a home win over Tracy High on Monday, Dec. 17.

Kimball sophomore guard Allie Schmidt hit a couple 3-point shots in the first half as Kimball (7-3) took a 19-14 lead by the end of the second quarter.

Sophomore Sarah Nunes hit a couple shots from the floor in the fourth, and sophomore Alexis Clark also contributed in the fourth by making six of six free throws. Schmidt finished the night with 12 points and Nunes added 11. Tracy senior Emily Anchartechahar scored nine for the Bulldogs and senior Karsi Fyfe added seven.

West 39, Chavez 32

Junior Nini Woodward scored 19 points and pulled down 20 rebounds in the Wolf Pack’s win on Monday, Dec. 17, at Chavez High.

The Wolf Pack (7-4) stayed in the lead through the end, with freshman Lyric Wilson and Ileyah Costa putting the defensive pressure on the Titans’ (5-6) top shooters to limit their scoring opportunities.

West also was strong on the boards, with Emma Bell pulling down 13 rebounds and Kate Bell with 10 rebounds.

West 42, Kimball 41

West High took an early lead and held off Kimball’s attempt at a fourth-quarter comeback for the on Friday, Dec. 14, at West High.

West (6-4) outscored Kimball (6-3) in the second quarter for an 18-15 halftime lead. The teams also played a close third quarter, but Kimball junior Noni Kuumba hit a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to help pull the Jaguars closer.

West senior Emma Bell led the Wolf Pack team with 14 points, and sophomore Kate Bell scored 13, including seven of seven shots from the free-throw line.

Kuumba was the night’s overall scoring leader with 15 points and sophomore guard Allie Schmidt contributed 10 for the Jaguars.

Davis 65, Tracy 30

Tracy High’s fell to Davis Senior High in the first round of the Wine Valley Classic in Napa on Thursday, Dec. 13.

Davis controlled the game from the start and continued to outscore Tracy for the rest of the game.

Junior Kimberly Paschal scored six points for Tracy and Tammy Serrato and Shelby Perry scored five each.
