Holly is a 1-year-old female chow mix who gets along well with other dogs.
Tracy Animal Shelter also has several cats and kittens waiting to be adopted. The staff requests donations of canned and dry food for cats, toys and treats.
The shelter, 370 Arbor Road, is open from noon to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. For information: 831-6364 or www.facebook.com/pages/City-of-Tracy-Animal-Services/111907492220255.
Animal Rescue of Tracy: Joyful Jasper
This energetic 10-month-old German shepherd mix has a golden coat and possibly some chow ancestry, according to Animal Rescue of Tracy volunteers. Jasper is a quick learner but needs a patient teacher — and plenty of treats — to help him to catch up on his training. He is learning how to walk on a leash and sit on command. A good outdoor dog, he sleeps in a crate at night and prefers to play all day.
Animal Rescue of Tracy is a nonprofit, all-volunteer rescue group that has pet adoption fairs for dogs and cats from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays at the West Valley Mall. Members will also make arrangements to show animals in rescue during the week. For information: 642-4324 or www.animalrescuetracy.org.
People for Pets: Rocky the runner
Rocky, a pointer-Labrador mix, is a gentle, quiet pet and an excellent running partner, according to People for Pets volunteers. He is 18 months old and has been neutered, microchipped and kept current on his shots. Rocky gets along well with cats, though he can be shy around men.
People for Pets also has several other dogs ready for adoption and hosts adoption fairs between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturdays at PetSmart, 2477 N. Naglee Road. For information: 933-6274 or inquiries@peopleforpets.com.
