As for the women who stay in physically or mentally abusive relationships I don't agree with calling them idiots or stupid. This shows little understanding of the reasons woman make choices which make the rest of us wonder, what the hell is she thinking? I admit there was a time where my first reaction to stories of women staying with men who abuse them was a bit like the prior two comments.
However, a little bit of research and knowledge can go a long way in at least getting an idea of what leads to women staying with abusive men, so now I'm not so quick in criticizing these women.
Low self esteem and dependency are two of the main reasons many experts point to as to why women stay in abusive relationships. This should be pretty easy to understand and agree with as low self esteem seems to be quite prevalent in our society these days.
Very insightful post. In my opinion ya nailed it. Many of these poor battered women feel that they have no other alternative an some even feel they are th one that has th problem.
Granted it's not what most of us would thank is a normal response but when ya really get down to it, thair's really nothin normal about th whole thang.
Hopefully now that th law is involved both of them can get th help they both need ta start livin a more normal life.
Th one I really feel bad fer is th unborn child.
Won't go inta th marriage bit other than ta say th lack of a marriage between them with her 8 months pregnant is a good indication somethang is seriously wrong but I am quite shore that many out thair would disagree by sayin it ain't important.
I find it rather odd th fervor over same sex marriage doesn't seem ta extend it's sentiment ta th more traditional heterosexual marriage in that so many seem ta choose no marriage at all. Guess, fer many, marriage really ain't all that important an perhaps if we look inta it we'd see more of this type of abuse in that sector of society than in th rest.
