Enochs High of Modesto claimed the 3-2 win after the Wolf Pack made a strong comeback in its first playoff appearance since 2005.
The Pack (21-11, 7-3 Tri-City Athletic League) dropped its first two sets at Enochs High in Modesto.
Senior setter Kalani Vaughns suffered an ankle injury in the first set when she collided at the net with an Enochs player, but after applying an ice pack and some tape she was back on the court for four more sets.
With a rearranged offense, West came back with wins in the third and fourth sets, only to lose in the fifth. Set scores at the end, in Enochs’ favor, were 25-19, 25-17, 18-25, 18-25, 15-9.
Vaughns finished the night with seven aces, 24 assists and 24 digs.
Also leading the Wolf Pack was senior blocker Joelise Bondo with 12 kills and nine blocks.
Senior libero Analyssa Eclevia had seven kills, three aces and 17 digs, junior Meinesa Saaga and sophomore Kate Bell had eight kills each, and junior Megan Toon had 12 digs.
Rocklin 3, Tracy 0
The Bulldogs went for a comeback in the second set, but ended up losing in three in the first round of the SJS Division II playoffs at Rocklin High on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
Rocklin beat Tracy (20-11, 6-4 San Joaquin Athletic Association) with set scores of 25-17, 31-29, 25-12.
Tracy’s scoring leaders were senior Angela Mariani with seven kills and junior Julia Jurado with five kills. Sophomore Casey Eddy had 15 digs and sophomore Mika Fithian had 13 assists.
Atwater 3, Kimball 1
The Jaguars (12-15-1, 10-4 Valley Oak League) ended their season Tuesday, Nov. 6, with the loss at Atwater High in the first round of the SJS Division II playoffs.
The Kimball team did not report details.
