Owner and operator Dennis Acton said the Tracy station is the third in his collection of Arco franchises, with additional stations in Concord and Suisun City, and it has been well received by the local residents since its opening Oct. 11.
“The community has been really excited we’re here,” Acton said, greeting customers with a smile as they approached the registers Wednesday, Oct. 31. “Almost every customer, I’m getting thanks for being here. People are very happy they got a gas station.”
He said one woman told him she had waited 30 years for a gas station in southern Tracy.
On Wednesday, customers came in waves, filling up the gas pumps area. When one vehicle left, it wasn’t long before another took its place.
“It’s my second time here,” said Karina Aguirre, as she put gasoline into her pickup truck “Pretty nice; closer to my house now. I like that.”
Once he decided to open a business in Tracy, Acton said he was looking at the site near the corner of Tracy Boulevard and Valpico Road for two years. He said location is the key to success, along with good prices for gasoline.
Although the station’s am/pm convenience store offers the expected chips, jerky and sodas, offerings go beyond traditional.
What makes this Arco unique, Acton said, is a bake shop and hot food station with goodies all prepared on site throughout the day.
In addition to more than 20 baked goods, including Danish, doughnuts, concha, cinnamon rolls and cookies, the shop also sells corn and beef hotdogs, pizza, chicken and rib sandwiches and burgers, for prices ranging from $1.50 to $3.50 depending on the item. The fully stocked condiment bar includes jalapeños and salsa.
“It’s fresh food on the rack,” Acton said. “Food to go.”
The clean, well-lit gas station is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the adjacent carwash offers one free wash with every three paid washes for $4.99 each.
“Everybody seems real happy we took this spot,” Acton said.
There are two other Arco stations in Tracy, at 3425 Tracy Blvd. and at 2430 Joe Pombo Parkway, that are not owned by Acton.

Don't come down too hard on her though cus it's a problem a great many Americans have taday who tend ta believe everythang th media tells em without every once considerin th media is written by men an women fer pay an not always accuracy or even with all th facts. These opinionated folks, an havin an opinion ain't a bad thang, tend ta try everyone based on what they see in th media instead of in a court of law that's designed ta sift through evidence ta establish fact before th person is convicted or exonerated.
Hey, I am guilty as well at times. Gotta remember th use th phrase, "in my opinion" more often so that th thangs that are opinions don't come across ta someone else as if I am sayin thair facts.
This person, Mr.Freeland, has something to say. He always says "blah, blah, blah" to everything.
It simply means, he does not care to take the time to read comments he disagrees with. And cares little enough to engage in any form discussion above the communication style of a two year old.
If people are not willing to listen to each other, that's what happens. They begin to sound like arguing children, rather than adults, and refuse to rise to anything more.
Essentially, Mr.Freeland wants others to ignore him, but he wants the world to know there are people out there who simply don't care.
I can also throw in I use to own a 780hp Z06 and although I used mainly Chevron I never noticed a difference in performance when I filled up with other brands including ARCO.

Never could quite figure out th apparent envy people have that makes em worry about how someone else chooses ta spend th money they made.
Bottom line, buy gas as cheap as you can because it is all good. I buy my gas from Costco!
