Tracy police received 170 calls for service Tuesday, Oct. 16. The following is a sampling of those calls.
12:38 a.m.: Police received two calls for a loud boom near the 1000 block of Cambridge Place, but police were unable to find anything unusual.
7:07 a.m.: A child translating for her Spanish speaking mother told police someone broke into their two vehicles on the 300 block of Lowell Avenue. She said credit cards allegedly stolen from the vehicle were being used.
7:54 a.m.: Online burglary reports were made on the 1100 block of Parker Avenue, 1300 block of Fruitwood Way, 1400 block of West 12th Street and 200 block of Cedar Mountain Drive.
9:17 a.m.: Police arrested a 20-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man for outstanding warrants on the 2600 block of South Tracy Boulevard. The warrants were for theft and the man was also charged with being drunk in public. Both people were booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.
10:10 a.m.: Police arrested a 24-year-old man for drug possession near 20th Street and Bessie Avenue. He was booked into county jail.
2:00 p.m.: Police arrested a 45-year-old man for an outstanding drug possession warrant on the 2000 block of North Tracy Boulevard.
2:15 p.m.: A parent told police her son found $50 bill at Kimball High school at 3200 Jaguar Run and turned it into school officials. The teen was told after two weeks he could have the money if the owner didn’t claim the cash. His parent said school officials are now saying they are entitled to keep $30 of it and she wants to file theft charges.
3:36 p.m.: A driver said her daughter and son were driving east past Tracy High School, 315 E. 11th St., when they were cut-off by two pickup trucks as each swerved to hit the other with eggs. The caller requested extra patrols when school gets out.
5:12 p.m.: Police arrested two men, ages 23 and 30, for unknown charges on the 2800 block of Jackson Avenue. The men were reportedly upset after finding their door busted and their dog missing following a reported code enforcement violation.
10:50 p.m.: Police arrested a 43-year-old man for an unknown charge on the 1400 block of Mansfield Street. He was booked into county jail.

When I was a kid it would have been a surprise if someone didn't hand in money or whatever else they found by happenstance, and mind you, I grew up in Oakland.

How many of us would turn in a $50 bill to lost and found? Not many. If this is true this kid should be rewarded for his honesty.
