Athletes from Kimball and Millennium high schools got a preview of what they could face at the cross-country championship during Saturday’s Bronco Invitational, hosted by Bella Vista High School on Saturday, Oct. 13.

Girls

Kimball High junior Francesca Loayza turned in the best performance among local runners, at the Willow Hill cross-country course in Folsom, finishing in eighth place out of 161 runners in the varsity girls large schools division, with a time of 20:17.95 on the 5K course.

Kimball’s girls team placed sixth out of 22 teams, with contributions from team members Chayah Sharma (21:47.72), Sophia Dalida (21:52.03), Anna Carrasco (22:07.62), Joanna Zhu (23:34.80), Jemiyah Castro (23:40.93) and Cierra Ziller (27:51.99).

St Francis was the first place team with an average time of 20:45.46.

Millennium High’s varsity girls placed 18th out of 20 teams in the small schools division. Junior Anneliese Bradley was the top Falcon runner. She finished in 44th place out of 165 runners with a time of 22:19.92 on the 5K course.

Millennium runners Priyana Patel (25:10.78), Serena Cho (25:39.88), Estefania Torres (28:27.49), Virginia Xuereb (30:34.26), Gianna Oliveri (31:53.79), and Marissa Walten (32:54.54) contributed to the team score.

Top team was Del Oro with an average time of 20:18.78.

Boys The top local runner for varsity boys was Kimball’s Kamryn Van Allen, who placed 56th out of 189 runners with a time of 18:44.20 on the 5K course.

The Kimball team placed 14th out of 22 teams, with Rigo Carrasco (18:46.65), Laurence Paulite (19:09.05), Greg Dawson (20:00.77), Devin Patel (20:20.98), Taylor Bosch (21:17.74) and Simarjit Singh (22:16.61) contributing to the Jagaurs’s team score. Lincoln High of Stockton was the top team with an average time of 17:02.31.

Millennium’s boys placed 17th out of 22 teams. Sophomore Jesse Castro was the Falcons’ leading runner. He placed 128th out of 208 runners and completed the 5K course in 20:56.71.

Donoban Salinas (21:05.43), J.T. Amador (21:07.87), Daniel Scahill (21:33.10), Spencer Blackwell (21:45.23), Paul Cardenas (23:07.55) and Jude Ocampo (23:11.23) contributed to the Falcons’ team score.

Junior varsity

Millennium’s Josh Harrison was the top Falcon runner in the junior varsity 5K race. He placed 65th out of 155 runners with a time of 21:01.29.

Millennium had other individual runners — Joseph Gudino (22:52.40), Conor Goulart (24:34.97), and Joseph Sales (26:22.52) — but did not field a full JV team.

Kimball’s sophomore boys placed 10th out of 13 teams in the large schools division. Kimball’s top runner was Fernando Carrasco. He placed 19th out of 127 runners with a time of 12:31.11 on the 3.4K course. The Kimball team score included contributions from Joe Valerio (13:23.41), German Silva (13:28.82), Dylan Abrahamson (13:54.65), Rubin Mann (14:24.01), Musadeq Tarin (16:04.08) and Asher Azama (16:27.99).

Oak Ridge High was the top team with an average time of 12:10.03.

Kimball runners competed in the freshman-sophomore girls 3.4K race, but did not have a full team. Julia Pagliaro finished in 53rd place out of 173 runners with a time of 15:39.06, and Dora Furtado (15:51.88), Jenny Charlesworth (18:50.60) and Kyrie Celeste Daos (19:44.52) also ran for Kimball.
