The man reportedly had lost his job earlier that day. The wife is apparently nine months pregnant.
No information about the location of the alleged crime was provided, but the husband was taken to San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp on undisclosed charges.
Police responded to 162 calls for service Monday, Oct. 16. The following is a sample of those reports.
12:21 a.m.: A 54-year-old woman was arrested in the Save Mart grocery store parking lot, 875 S. Tracy Blvd., for an outstanding warrant from the Manteca Police Department. Tracy police were investigating a suspicious vehicle when they encountered the woman. Her vehicle was towed from the store.
2:53 a.m.: Police responded to McKinley School, 800 W. Carlton Way, when a man was seen running from the school. A bag allegedly containing tools and a drug pipe was found at the scene. The man was described as white and in his 40s.
6:51 a.m.: Police tried to locate a rooster that was allegedly crowing on the 4600 block of Morning Brook Lane. The rooster was reportedly crowing from 1 a.m. to sunrise.
11:13 a.m.: Two drivers were reportedly in a fight in the area of Grant Line Road and Colony Drive. Police detained one person, but no arrests were made because neither person wanted to press charges. One driver allegedly was wielding a wooden bat during the altercation.
12:23 p.m.: The windshield of a vehicle was found shattered on the 400 block of Glenbriar Circle. Footprints and handprints were found on the vehicle.
1:18 p.m.: Police arrested a 46-year-old woman for allegedly shoplifting from JC Penney, 3100 Naglee Road, in West Valley Mall. The woman reportedly told police that she stole the items and planned on returning them for a refund.
3:03 p.m.: A 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing from Staples, 2960 W. Grant Line Road. The man has allegedly stolen from the store before but was allowed to return the items without consequence.
4:59 p.m.: A gun magazine containing bullets and a shank were reportedly found in the parking lot of Home Depot, 2461 Naglee Road.
11:59 p.m.: Police issued a warning to a man who was seen riding his bike on the 300 block of Pacheco Drive and rummaging through recycling bins.
