Golf: West beats Edison as league season nears conclusion

West High’s girls golf team won a Tri-City Athletic League match, 273-341, over Edison High of Stockton on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Old River Golf Course.

Freshman Ashley Aguilera led the Wolf Pack (4-5 TCAL) with a score of 50 on the par-36 course. Also contributing to the win were Ashley Gonzales (51), Bobbi Loggins (57), Vanessa Nunez (57) and Samantha McCain (58).

West played the last regular-season match against Stagg at Old River after press time Thursday, Oct. 11.

The team heads to the TCAL championships Monday, Oct. 15, at Oakmoore Golf Course in Stockton.

Bulldog Invitational

Tracy High’s girls golf team finished third in the Bulldog Invitational 18-hole golf tournament on Monday, Oct. 8, at Elkhorn Golf Course in Stockton.

The Bulldogs finished with a team score of 400 behind tournament champion Granada of Livermore (346) and runner-up East Union of Manteca (361).

Tracy High senior Jennifer Kim was her team’s top golfer with a score of 91 on the par-73 course. Contributing to the team score were seniors Shelby Devlin (100) and Annie Fox (101) and sophomores Kirsten Bas (108) and Alee Balanon (133).

Other teams competing at the tournament were Escalon (418), Stagg (470), Livingston (503), Riverbank (517) and Benicia (571).

The Bulldogs (6-6, 4-4 San Joaquin Athletic Association) are preparing for their league championship tournament. Date and location of that event had not been confirmed as of press time.
