Millennium High School kicked off a long string of homecoming activities in the month of October with a parade through downtown Tracy on Friday, Oct. 5.

Students from the Tracy Learning Center’s Primary Charter and Discovery Charter schools joined Millennium along the parade route, which marched down Central Avenue, Ninth Street, A Street and 10th Street.

Floats representing Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Chicago and New Orleans were part of the “Bright Lights, Big City”-themed event.

Millennium’s homecoming festivities wrapped up with a Saturday football game against Stone Ridge Christian at Steve Lopez Stadium, a game the Falcons dropped 34-6.

However, homecoming for other local secondary schools are just kicking off.

Kimball High’s first homecoming is this week, when a spinoff of cable TV network Nickelodeon takes over the campus.

“Kimballodeon,” begins Monday, Oct. 8, with a powder-puff football game at Don Nicholson Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

The Jaguars will crown their first homecoming royalty Wednesday, Oct. 10, during a night rally at the same football stadium.

Kimball will not have a downtown parade in its first homecoming year, but leadership class floats will take turns around the stadium track between the sophomore and varsity football games Oct. 12, as the Jaguars host the Sierra High Timberwolves in Don Nicholson Stadium.

Tracy High will get its school spirit going during a homecoming week that starts Oct. 15.

The Bulldogs will have a number of dress-up days and activities during lunch periods as the different classes take on the theme of the 1950s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.

A night rally at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 in Steve Lopez Stadium will see the 2012 homecoming court crowned.

The freshman football game, beginning at 5 p.m. Oct. 18, will be followed by the powder-puff game.

The annual homecoming parade hits the downtown streets at 3 p.m. Oct. 19, followed by the sophomore and varsity games against Lincoln High at Steve Lopez Stadium.

West High concludes the homecoming month with its festivities that begin with a powder-puff game at 7 p.m. Oct. 23.

The Wolf Pack expects to get the student body cheering at the night rally at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at Steve Thornton Gymnasium, when the king and queen will be crowned.

Homecoming events wrap up Oct. 26, with West High’s parade through downtown starting at 3 p.m., followed by the Wolf Pack sophomore and varsity games against the Edison Vikings.
