Girls Tennis: Lodi has edge over Tracy in quest for league title

The Tracy High girls tennis team’s quest for a repeat San Joaquin Athletic Association title just got a lot tougher with a 5-4 loss to Lodi at Tracy High on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Tracy (8-3, 5-2 SJAA) and Lodi (7-0 SJAA) shared the league title last year. Lodi has the advantage this year now that the Flames have beat the Bulldogs twice in SJAA matches.

Lodi won four of the six singles matches including a No. 3 singles match that went to three close sets as the Flames’ Julia Baffoni beat Tracy sophomore Camille McDaniel 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4.

Tracy junior Maisy Green also beat Lodi’s Mikayla Kidd 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 in the No. 4 match.

Tracy’s No. 1 singles player, senior Chiara Adamo, beat Lodi’s Taylor Barajas 7-5, 6-2.

Tracy also won two of the three doubles matches as Kaitlin Mizuno and Lindsey Ewen beat Megan Nickel and Madison Machado 5-7, 6-4, 10-8; and Devra Asah and Taylor Hurlock beat Alexis Grenko and Jena Bowers 6-3, 6-1.



West 9, Stagg 0

The Wolf Pack girls tennis team started the second half of the Tri-City Athletic League season with a shutout win over Stagg at home on Thursday, Sept. 27. West (15-2, 5-1 TCAL) won all matches in straight sets.

In the singles, Emma Bell beat Wong Xiong 6-1, 6-1; Regina Pacheco beat Camille Zapata 6-1, 6-0; Jessica Diaz beat Lynzie Vang 6-3, 6-2; Maliyah Shavers beat Sereena Nond 6-3, 6-0; Allie Bettencourt beat Cathleen San Marcos 6-0, 6-2; and



Chloe Pounds beat Victoria Chom 6-0, 6-2

In the doubles, Julie Schobey and Kristen Steed beat Chao Xiong and Diane Doan 6-4, 6-0; Abby Sevilla and Russell Jorda beat Rajada Ealey and Nina Xiong 7-6 (7-1), 6-2; and Coleen Andrada and Rachel Vindiola beat Jessica Rhoten and Celine Lopez 6-1, 6-1



Tracy 9, Franklin 0

The Bulldogs swept Franklin at home on Thursday, Sept. 27.

In the singles, Chiara Adamo beat Kayla Hernandez 6-0, 6-0; Aubrey Boehm beat America Guzman 6-0, 6-2; Camille McDaniel beat Adriana Pantoja 6-2, 6-0; Maisy Green beat Pricila Jaime 6-1, 6-1; Marissa Anderson beat Julie Garibay 6-0, 6-2; and Sarah Kellogg beat Jizelle Ojeda 6-3, 6-4.

In the doubles, Katrina Broughton and Gianna Violante beat Andrea Ramirez and Melissa Figeroa 6-1, 6-2; Kaitlin Mizuno and Lindsey Ewen beat Monica Leon and Andrea Pennell 6-0, 6-0; and Xenia Ceja and Taylor Hurlock beat Selene Vasquez and Lucero Beltran 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).
