Pinwheels placed around the campus were covered with images and words that represented a visual statement about peace, tolerance and cooperation.
Led by students in the communications pathway, Kimball High students and teachers blanketed the campus with peace-themed artwork, wrote letters of appreciation to members of the U.S. military and learned about Nobel Peace Prize winners and ways to oppose bullying.
Moments of silence marked Friday’s lunch periods, the choir performed, and a student addressed his assembled classmates about the meaning of peace. Kimball High School first observed the International Day of Peace in 2011. It was established by the United Nations in 1981.
I just wish the world, especially countries from the Middle East, could be a part of this today and everyday.
