Sgt. Les Garcia confirmed Monday, Sept. 10, that an 18-year-old who was shot on the 11700 block of Larch Road at around 11:11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, is in stable condition.
The 18-year-old, whose name was not disclosed, was injured along with two other men, ages 18 and 19, according to Sgt. Shelby Oliver, who was at the scene early Sunday.
Oliver said one of those two victims had minor injuries to his hand and leg, while the other was grazed by a bullet. Sheriff’s spokesman Les Garcia reported Monday in a media release that the two men with the more minor injuries were taken to area hospitals and have since been released.
Oliver said Sunday morning that the shooting occurred at a Sweet 16 birthday party — Garcia’s media release only stated the event was some type of party.
Garcia’s release said investigators believe the people responsible for the shooting were told to leave when they tried to crash the Saturday night event.
“The uninvited subjects departed; and approximately five minutes later unknown suspect(s) started shooting at party goers,” Garcia’s release states.
It was not disclosed how many shots were fired, and Garcia’s release stated it is not known who the shooters might be or how many people are allegedly involved.
Garcia said in a Monday press release that investigators interviewed several of the partygoers, and no one saw who was responsible for the shooting and could not provide descriptions of the alleged gunmen.
Tracy police were first to respond to the shooting on Larch Road outside of Tracy city limits, and held down the crime scene with officers from the California Highway Patrol until sheriff’s deputies arrived. Larch Road was sealed off between Tracy Boulevard and Corral Hollow Road for several hours.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call county sheriffs at 469-4400.
