Bean Festival under way

The 26th annual Tracy Dry Bean Festival got under way Saturday, Sept. 8, with sunny skies and cool temperatures for the visitors who flocked to downtown to celebrate California’s dry bean industry.

The two-day festival concludes Sunday, Sept. 9, with a chili cook-off contest and bean burrito eating contest along with entertainment throughout the day.

Crowds took advantage of the weather to tour the various booths and entrainment on the stage located throughout downtown.

The Show and Shine car show attracted classic cars, muscle cars and low riders for display.

The festival begins on Sunday at 10 a.m. and concludes at 6 p.m.

This event sure has gone down hill. The Chamber needs to make a lot of changes. A burrito eating contest, really. The entertainment used to be so good, I wont be back unless some major changes happen.

TP, this is the 25th annual festival not the 26th, the first one was in 1987. I'm not sure what entrainment is but sorry i missed it.

We didn't have much time to go to the festival this weekend but we did manage a short visit to get a Lockeford Sausage sandwich and wander about.

Nice, but the festival could do without all the political booths.
