The Jaguars scored in the 27th minute on a goal from Omar Beltran with Brett Lassiter on the assist. Liberty Ranch scored a minute later and again in the 35th minute to make it a 2-1 game at the half. Neither team scored in the second half. Kimball goalie Juan Cardenas had five saves.
Kimball 6, Stagg 5
Kimball High’s boys soccer team got its first win of the season, 6-5, against the Delta Kings of Stagg High in Stockton on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
Kimball took a 3-2 lead at the half on goals from Brett Lassiter, Brian Donovan and Noah Aini. Lassiter and Josh Shuey had assists.
Lassiter scored again on a free kick in the second half, and Aini scored another on a pass from Lassiter.
Lassiter scored one more to put Kimball ahead. Goalie Juan Cardenas had seven saves.
West 6, Lodi 1
Miguel Madruga and Shawn Frisbie scored three goals each as the West High soccer team (2-0) won its first home game over the Lodi Flames on Thursday, Aug. 30, at West High.
West started off with a persistent offense and strong midfield to apply nearly constant pressure on the Lodi goal, especially in the first half. Lodi also got into foul trouble as the Flames got more aggressive in fighting off West’s attacks, and allowed three penalty kicks while drawing two yellow cards.
West scored right away on Frisbie’s shot off of Alex Valencia’s pass. Madruga scored in the 16th minute on a pass from Frisbie, and Madruga scored again on a penalty kick. Frisbie scored another in the 33rd minute after he sprinted up the middle to collect a pass from Valencia and made it a 4-0 game going into the half.
Madruga scored in the 43rd minute on a penalty kick. Lodi scored its only goal in the 61st minute on an arcing shot from the left. West got another penalty kick in the 67th minute, and Frisbie fired the ball into the net to make it a 6-1 game.
Lodi won the junior varsity game 5-0.
