Tracy resident Beverly Jane Balingit, 72, a retired accountant, died Aug. 23 at Evergreen New Hope Care Center. No services are planned.

Mrs. Balingit was born Aug. 26, 1939, in Long Beach and worked 25 years as an accountant for Santa Catalina Island Co. before retiring in 2000. In retirement, she worked on genealogical research, listened to live jazz with her husband and visited Barista’s for iced tea.

Survivors include her husband of one year, Albert “Al” Balingit of Tracy; two children, Oden Vanderwiel, and his wife, Catherine, and Alison Adkins, and her husband, Dennis, all of Santa Catalina Island; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are 10 siblings, Roger High of Grass Valley, Peter Verana, Phillip Verana, and his wife, Rosie, and Paul Verana, and his wife, Susan, all of San Diego, Andre Javier, and his wife, Melva, of Porter Ranch, Govard Gaj, and his wife, Denise Lynn, of Maryland, Susan High of Los Angeles, Karen Cuchet, and her husband, Bonoit, of Montreal, Canada, Anita Rockwell of Avalon, Santa Catalina Island, and Josephine Garces of San Diego; and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements will be handled by Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions in Mrs. Balingit’s name be sent to McHenry House Tracy Family Shelter, 757 A St., Tracy, CA 95376 or www.mchenryhousetracy.org.
