DETAILS: The Boys &Girls Clubs of Tracy will have signups for its flag football league. through September 14 during club hours at the Lowell Avenue clubhouse. The league is Open to boys and girls ages 6 to 14.

DETAILS: California Fusion Fastpitch will have two new 14-and-under teams, one based in Manteca, the other in Oakdale, for fall 2012. Players are needed for all positions on both teams. Players should arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork. Future tryout dates will be posted on the team’s website.

DETAILS: USA Elite Gold-Mac Team of Tracy will host tryouts. The team guides players through the pre-college recruiting process and can offer scholarships for talented athletes.

St. Bernard’s golf tournament

WHEN: Check-in at noon.

WHERE: Tracy Golf and Country Club, 35200 S. Chrisman Road.

DETAILS: St. Bernard’s School will host its 21st Annual Golf Classic to raise money for the school. Check-in is at noon and shotgun start is at 1 p.m. The day includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, a long-drive challenge, silent auction and dinner.

COST: $125 per player, $25 for dinner only.

Tracy Titans tryouts

DETAILS: The Tracy Titans fastpitch softball teams will host tryouts for the 2012 Fall season. Tryouts are open for all positions on the 10U, 12U, and 14U teams.

Crazy Ei8hts Trail Run

WHEN: Check-in at 7 a.m., race starts at 8:30 a.m.

WHERE: Los Vaqueros Reservoir, Brentwood.

DETAILS: On Your Mark Events will host the third of this summer’s Crazy Ei8hts runs at Los Vaqueros Reservoir. It is an 8K trail course designed so that runners of all abilities can participate, but experienced runners will also find a challenge.

COST: $40, or $35 for those who pre-register. Includes a T-shirt, post-race beer garden and awards for first-place finishers. Parking is $6.

Saturdays, starting in September

Junior golf

WHEN: 10 a.m. to noon, every Saturday from September through February.

WHERE: Putting for Birdie, 20065 S. MacArthur Drive

DETAILS: Putting for Birdie driving range will host clinics for young golfers, ages 7 to 17, every Saturday starting Sept. 8. There will be three eight-week sessions, each session an hour long, with specific times determined by the number of golfers in each age group. Clinics will be held rain or shine, and golfers can bring their own clubs or use clubs provided by the instructor.

Bean Run

WHEN: 8 a.m.,

WHERE: Lincoln Park, Eaton Avenue, in front of Tracy Branch Library.

DETAILS: Both 5K and 10K runs are planned as part of the 26th annual Tracy Dry Bean Festival. Same-day registration will begin at 6 a.m., and the race begins at 8 a.m. All ages are welcome; last year’s participants ranged in age from 6 to 83.

Saturday, Sept 29

Oktoberfest 5K fun run

WHEN: Registration at 7:15 a.m., run begins at 8 a.m.

WHERE: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1635 Chester Drive

DETAILS: A 5K fun run, about 3.1 miles, will go through the neighborhood around St Paul’s Lutheran Church. The run is part of the church’s Oktoberfest celebration. Entry fees will benefit the Kimball High water polo teams and Building Together Today. The run is followed by a pancake breakfast for all runners at 9 a.m.; nonrunners are also welcome at the breakfast for a small donation.

COST: $30; those who register before Sept. 14 pay $20 and get a T-shirt and goody bag. Checks should be made out to Bella Vista Christian Academy.

DETAILS: The California Cougars under-13 girls, born after August 1999, and under-12 girls, born after August 2000, soccer teams need players for their travel squads, which compete in Premier League and State Cup tournaments.
