A driver sheared off a fire hydrant in front of her home in the 1800 block of Mimosa Court on Friday, Aug. 17.

The GMC Sierra truck clipped the hydrant near the driveway of the home, shearing the hydrant's head off. A geyser of water shot into the air, flooding a portion of the street.

Tracy police and fire crews blocked the street while a fire crewman shut the water valve, stanching the flow.

No one was injured, and the Public Works Department was called to repair the hydrant.

Makes it hard to do a hit and run when you're in your own driveway!!!
