Record-breakers honored at the picnic included 10-year-old Malia Fernandez, who set five individual team records this summer in the 9-10 girls division.
She set a record in the 50-yard freestyle (28.97) at the Tritons Invitational on May 26 and 27 and broke her own record twice more during the season, including the new record set June 23 at the Sea Dog Invitational (28.58).
She set two records at the Oakdale Invitational on June 9, in the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.62) and the 50 backstroke (34.53), and set two more at the Mid-Valley Swim League championships July 14 at Ripon High School: the 100 individual medley (1:14.74) and the 50 butterfly (32.22).
Madesyn Ronquillio, 11, set an individual team record in the 11-12 girls 50 backstroke (32.55) during the Mid-Valley Swim League championships.
The 11-12 girls free relay team of Lindsay Price, Madesyn Ronquillio, Clara Ho and Sofia Fairfield set a record in the 200 free relay (1:58.72).
Also honored at the event were the swimmers who accumulated the most points for their team during the season. Malia Fernandez won all of her events through the entire season, as did Lela Ziller, who swam in the 6-and-under division.
Other high-point awards went to Daniel Zeller (6U boy), Liahla Fernandez (7-8 girl), Adam Dragoo (7-8 boy), Cody Heusel (9-10 boy), Madesyn Ronquillio (11-12 girl), Jackson Lieberg (11-12 boy), Julia Vares (13-14 girl), Alec Fairfield (13-14 boy), Sandra Walther (15-16 girl), Karel Kouda (15-16 boy) and Heather Porter (17-18 girl).
Most-improved swimmers were Mia Rodriguez (6U girl), Nick Baptista (6U boy), Harshita Chaudhary (7-8 girl), Clyde Brusca (7-8 boy), Haley Osborne (9-10 girl), Francisco Valdez (9-10 boy), Cyanna Rosa (11-12 girl), Lava Vakalahi (11-12 boy), Sydney McCarthy (13-14 girl), Spencer Bishop (13-14 boy), Amber Hill (15-16 girl) and Justin Riccobono (15-16 boy).
Recipients of the Tritons Coaches Awards were Ashlyn Waddoups, 8, and Ben Zeller, 12.
Perpetual awards, named for former Triton swimmers and coaches and given to swimmers who exemplify team spirit, were as follows:
• Rocky Coelho Memorial Award: Anna Chavarria, 12, and Sam Payne, 9.
• Jeff Wible Award: Aline Alducin, 10, and Bailey Brusca, 13.
• Stuie Phillips Award: Danielle Rozal, 12, and Ryan Mehlhaff, 8.
• Thomas Kreeft Award: Madison Baker, 10, and Nicole Hamilton, 10.
• Heather Porter, 17, received the Senior Certificate as a longtime Triton swimmer leaving the program because of age.
