Mrs. Schmitt, born March 21, 1922, in Daly City, was a homemaker. In addition to Tracy, she had lived in several Bay Area cities, Southern California, Oregon and Ohio before settling in Yuba City, her home of 20 years. She had been a member of the American Red Cross and was a parishioner of St. Isadore Catholic Church in Yuba City.
Survivors include eight children, Richard Schmitt, and his wife, Patricia, of Yuba City, Michael Schmitt, and his wife, Aileen, of Spring Hill, Fla., Gladys Schmitt of Modesto, Stephen Schmitt, and his wife, Shelly, of Tracy, Cheryl Murphy, and her husband, Tom, of Lindale, Texas, Christina Lebsack, and her husband, Mark, of Escalon, Robin Laver, and her husband, Gerald, of Las Cruces, N.M., and Lori Figley, and her husband, Ron, of Sonora; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 70 years, Herman J. Schmitt; and parents, Arthur Andrew and Gladys Marie (Peneles) O’Neel.
