As the first day of classes approaches at local schools, Tracy African American Association is accepting donated backpacks and other supplies to give to families needing help this school year.

Donations will be accepted through Aug. 10. Book bags and school supplies for all grade levels can be dropped off at T&J Education Supplies for Early Learners, 320 W. 11th St., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Sunday.

The materials will be given to parents or guardians of school-age children between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Aug. 11. Each family is limited to two backpacks with supplies.
