Mr. Santos was born Aug. 17, 1929, in San Leandro and moved to Tracy from Hayward in 1987. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart for injuries during the battle of Heartbreak Ridge.
He later worked as an operator for Les McDonald Construction, first in Hayward and then in Tracy, retiring in 1991 when he was permanently disabled. He was a 55-year member of Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Edith “Edie” Santos of Tracy; children, Louise Balentine of Ripon and Dominique Banner and Matthew Santos, both of Tracy; a sister, Rosaline Pedro of San Leandro; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Saturday’s service will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Park View Funeral Home, 3661 French Camp Road, in Manteca.
