Born June 21, 1945, in Edinburg, Texas, Mr. Castilleja graduated from Edison High School in Stockton and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1963 to 1967. He worked at the Tracy depot until his retirement in 1998. After retiring, he worked as a handyman.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Gloria Castilleja of Stockton; children, Louie Castilleja Jr., and his wife, Maggie, and Juan Castilleja, and his wife, Melissa, all of Modesto, and MaryLou Guzman, and her husband, Gus, Sofia Castilleja and Angelica Eckles, and her husband,
Robert, all of Stockton; siblings, Josephina Hidalgo, and her husband, Jose, Jenny Baca, and her husband, Oliver, Joe Castilleja, and his wife, Lilly, Steven Castilleja, and his wife, Amelia, Mary Lopez, and her husband, Robert, and Jose “Pepe” Herrera, and his wife, Lupita, all of Stockton; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, Estaban Castilleja and Antonia Farias, preceded him in death.
Monday’s Mass will begin at 11 a.m. at St. Gertrude’s Church, 1663 E. Main St., in Stockton. Visitation will be observed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Frisbie Warren & Carroll Mortuary, 809 N. California St., in Stockton, with a rosary at 2 p.m. Burial will be in San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, 719 E. Harding Way, in Stockton.
