David ‘Kaveki’ Kealohalani Makaipo

Services were in Fremont this week for four-year Tracy resident David “Kaveki” Kealohalani Makaipo, 85, a U.S. Army veteran, who died July 13 in Tracy.

Mr. Makaipo was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Hilo, Hawaii, and served in the Army from March 1945 to February 1956, when he was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. He later retired from Gray Line Tours in Oahu, Hawaii, after 30 years.

Survivors include nine children; a sister; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

His wife of 51 years, Betty Makaipo, preceded him in death.

Fremont Chapel of the Roses handled arrangements. Burial was in Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
