Opening the doors of his newest store at 30 E. 10th St. on June 21, the site of the former True Value Hardware store, Archer has reinforced his network of car parts stores to nine across Northern California.
“We closed our other (Tracy) location and moved to a bigger and better location with better parking and nicer facility in general,” he said. “Remodeled the whole inside and increased our inventory. We have everything.”
Operated by Archer and his wife, Charlotte, the business has been a part of the Tracy business community for nine years under his ownership. The previous owners, the Fisher family, owned it for more than 30 years and still work with Archer.
Archer said he purchased the store in Tracy because he felt Tracy had represented of his type of customer.
“It’s a family community, and we thought it would be good for business, and it has been good for business,” he said.
Started by his wife’s father, grandfather and uncle in 1965, Archer said Monument Car Parts is now considered the largest independent auto parts store in Northern California. In addition to Tracy, he said they have stores in Vallejo, Antioch, Livermore, Pleasanton, Pacheco, San Ramon and two in Concord.
When it comes to car parts, Monument splits its customer base among wholesalers that include tire shops and automotive dealers, and average residents who are looking for parts for a do-it-yourself project.
When it comes to pricing, Archer said Monument is extremely competitive when it comes to the name brands they stock.
Monument Car Parts is open 360 days a year, he said, with hours from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
