Members of the Tracy Police Department, along with officers from the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office and Deuel Vocational Institution, provided a personal escort to the Special Olympics torch as it passed through Tracy on Friday, June 15.

The torch, named the Flame of Hope, is at the center of the annual Law Enforcement Torch run, in which peace officers carry the torch prior to the Special Olympics games.

This year, the flame began its trek to the 2012 Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games at the University of California, Davis, on June 8 in Tulare, winding its way through the Central Valley.

It arrived DVI prison on Kasson Road on Thursday, June 14. Correctional officers from there ran the torch to the Tracy Police Department, where police officers and members of the sheriff’s office ran the flame to Livermore.

Sheriff Steve Moore was one of the many officers to hand off the torch on its way through town.

A police caravan followed the runners as they made their way along 11th Street to Lammers Road. The runners then turned onto Schulte Road to head toward Patterson Pass Road and a trip over the Altamont Hills.

Livermore police officers will carry the torch to its next stop at San Ramon. The torch will arrive in Sacramento on Thursday, June 21, where it will make one last trip to the UC Davis’ Aggie Stadium on June 22 for the opening ceremonies.

The Special Olympics games begin June 23, where more than 900 athletes from throughout Northern California will compete in aquatics, bocce, tennis and track and field events.

Admission to the Special Olympics games are free.

Mr O G I am a first hand witness that Mr Espinoza has taught social work classes representing his nonprofit during business and school hours for over a year at TUSD schools including Kimball and West High. You can check from the schools and they will verify. Please go ahead and check.

I have to agree with OG. Because if you're correct (and I have absolutely no idea if that is the case) then you could email that info to the Tracy Press and ask them to in investigate it for you.

Otherwise you risk turning into something like tommybahama.

Don't take it the wrong way, but it also sounds like you are saying this happened in the past?

I mean you raise a lot of questions, but in the end, that is all. Is it fair to this guy? Was it fair to Jan? Do they deserve that?

Just email it to TP and let it go if you want my advice. Less stress for you and probably fair enough.

Just some friendly advice and humble opinion. I have absolutely no idea.

I agree with debb, John E should not be allowed to teach at schools while being paid by the city. He is so fast to take the city to court, I don't understand why the city allows a paid cop to do extra curricular work on the city, that is, our tax payers dime. Or is he, being a law bearer, immune to accountability because he is police captain?

Are ya really of th notion he's doin this while on th City's dime? Did ya inquire about that? Yer one that says ya wanna see th proof, did ya verify he was doin it on th City's time or is this just a fanciful imagination?

An since ya don't live in Tracy, per yer statement in this comment thread, let me ask, why do ya even care?

"Hey tommy,

We're the taxpayers paying for your boy to run and get a photo op?"

In addition to paying him to go to local schools to promote his nonprofit which he runs with a friend with TUSD funds. So while the city is paying him to do a police job, his nonprofit makes money during the day when he uses city paid time to teach classes at Kimball High. And he takes the city to court? This city runs backwards. Whats wrong with this picture?

I also agree with door's assessment that getting your picture printed in a newspaper doesn't mean squat.

Differences,

I enjoyed seeing local law enforcements picture, though as typically prone to hyperbole and propaganda type remarks as you and doorsc are, one assumes the Tracy Press removed that picture and inserted the current showing people in runner's clothes.

How ordinary of you.

dcose I was trying to quote doorsc and put my comment under but did not manage to get the whole comment done, which is why I continued below in two. Please give your mind a rest, even though your republican bladder makes you squirt conspiracy where ever you go.

Redhot got it right too, and no, he is also separate from me.

I know you find it hard to believe but there are more than three liberals in Tracy. In every cesspool of frogs you will find some bright lights. Even though you wear dark shades, the others see the light.

It is common knowledge that tommy aka John E had a personal agenda against Janet. And no it wasn't a liberal vs republican conspiracy, it was a battle of egos.

debdaves,

We are not in agreement. Regarding your constant criticism of others. I agree only in your assesment of tommybahama. But sometimes you are doing the same thing. The rest of Tracy is not like tommybahama. That is called projecting.

Why not show quote marks or refer to or something else when quoting ? Would that not make it easier to read?

"In every cesspool of frogs you will find some bright lights..."

Should you have the temerity to see yourself as a "bright light" in a cesspool, please do not hesitate to disabuse yourself of that notion. We use a bright light to attract frogs when gigging.

Your like-minded pool you swim in (your comments) shows not every evolutionary path leads to success.

"Redhot got it right too, and no, he is also separate from me."

Having said nothing on that relationship, conspiracies and such dominate your life don't they ? My earlier recommendation for some couch time still applies.

"It is common knowledge that tommy aka John E..."

use of "common knowledge"

popular phrase used by the evidentiary bereft when needing to justify something that isn't "common knowledge"

Some specific examples such as "tommy aka John E", mark's alter ego etc. would help support your position.

I think Janet, ultimately did a good job, in spite of the fact that people don't always agree. I cannot blame her for leaving after tommybahama and the TracyPress failed to bring a shred of evidence against her. And allowed tommybahama to spread his lies for two years. She probably was not prepared for this style of paparazi journalism in Tracy, after committing to addressing the community spirit (and being sideswiped by butt-heads); but the newspaper is owned by the TracyPress, and they can run it however they see fit.

debbdaves and doorsc surprisingly agree

Here is where I thank myself as "doorsc" for my alter ego "debbdaves" insightful comments.

doorsc, "Thank you for your insightful comments... That is how Tracy runs. I am glad I don't live and no longer work here."

We're glad too but find your credibility strained to unimaginable limits.

debbdaves, "Any man who draws such attention to himself is in my view rather shameful, and insecure."

doors, "Any man who draws such attention to himself is in my view rather shameful, and insecure."

debbdaves, "every dic..."

doorsc, "tator has his day."

Some couch time with a professional might put your overtaxed mind more at ease... or you could blog using one persona (instead of multiple) to save the money. :-)

Thank you for your insightful comments. The word here is ego. These officials are holding this city back based on personal politics. The police chief was run off due to nothing but ego games. That is how Tracy runs. I am glad I don't live and no longer work here. Tracy politics is very toxic.

It is sad to see men with big egos stoop so low as to praise themselves for getting a silly half naked picture taken, and then have the audacity to comment about it themselves in order to draw attention to themselves. Any man who draws such attention to himself is in my view rather shameful, and insecure. And the insecure always try to bring others down to feel good about themselves. Isn't that how you felt when you led a campaign against the former chief. A war of egos running through the political divides of this city. Enjoy your power while it lasts, every dic...

doorac got it right......it is sad to see how politics runs this town and how intelligent people are run off by the powers that be.....but dictators have their day and meet a brutal end. As you sow so shall you reap.

Hey cathlab.

Who is that in the right front portion of the picture? Oh My; Why it's Captain Juan Espinoza carrying the torch for the Tracy PD in the Special Olympics run. Who is following him, the County Sheriff and a line of Tracy Police Officers.

I guess this kind of deflates your defamation balloon doesn't it. Unless, you want to say the same things about the Sheriff and the rest of the TPD that you've said about Captain Espinoza.
