The woman bought the suspected television from a man selling them out of the trunk of his vehicle.
However, when the victim got home she discovered the television box contained only wood. The woman had a phone number for the seller, but he allegedly hung up her each time she called. Police are investigating.
Tracy police received 182 calls for service Tuesday, June 12. The following is a sampling of those calls.
1:59 a.m.: A caller reported a couple having sex inside of a SUV behind a church on the 1200 block of Parker Avenue. Police checked and found the couple was in the backseat, fully clothed, talking. Since the couple are minors, the girl was released to her step-mother and the boy was released to his grandmother.
5:48 a.m.: Police issued a warning to a man who was found lying in the front yard of a residence on the 300 block of Quail Run Circle.
7:43 a.m.: A 2002 Saturn LS with an Italian Princess sticker on the back window was reported stolen on the 1400 block of Coolidge Avenue. The owner told police that her purse was stolen last week in Modesto and that she suspected the alleged purse snatcher may have come to her house. Police are investigating.
9:27 a.m.: An opossum with babies was found in a backyard on the 500 block of Charlemagne Lane. The homeowner was advised to call a wildlife trapper or contact animal control if the animals appeared injured or sick.
9:41 a.m.: Beer bottles were apparently thrown through the window of a vehicle on the 1200 block of Gwerder Street. The owner said a neighbor heard the noise and saw teenagers driving away.
10:28 a.m.: Police encountered a man wearing a hospital gown wearing and camouflage hat outside of the Bank of America on the 100 block of West 10th Street. The man was reportedly inside of the bank. The man told police he was living on the 100 block of West Fourth Street.
11:18 a.m.: A woman called to report her 1993 Geo Prism was stolen on the 1400 block of North Tracy Boulevard. Police checked and found the car had been moved by the owner’s husband without her knowledge.
11:55 a.m.: A woman on the 800 block of Glencreek Drive reported receiving an email requesting confirmation for a purchase that she had never made. She said the shipping address was hers, but that the purchaser’s name wasn’t. Police are investigating.
1:36 p.m.: A caller reported that a competing solicitor urinated on his car at Walmart, 3010 W. Grant Line Road. He allegedly had pictures of the incident. Police responded but both people were gone when they arrived.
4:07 p.m.: Police arrested a 54-year-old man for outstanding warrants on the 3200 block of West Grant Line Road. The warrants were from Amador County. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.
4:44 p.m.: Police arrested a 27-year-old man on the 2600 block of South Tracy Boulevard for outstanding warrants that included vandalism. He was booked into county jail.
5:54 p.m.: A 1990 Honda Accord was reported stolen from the Post Office at 125 W. Ninth Street. Police are investigating.
8:24 p.m.: Police arrested an 18-year-old man on the 100 block of East Eaton Avenue for outstanding warrants which included a charge for vandalism. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail.
8:47 p.m.: Police arrested a 28-year-old man for domestic violence in central Tracy. The arrest occurred after a caller reported her sister and boyfriend were fighting.
10:15 p.m.: Police arrested a 33-year-old man on a drug-related charge following a pedestrian stop near 10th Street and Central Avenue.
11:50 p.m.: A man called to say his teenage daughter was hit with a bottle of water when they were taking a walk near Eastlake Circle and MacArthur Drive. He said the object was thrown from a white car that was driving by them. Police were unable to locate the car.
