Jaeger took on the majority of the pitching duties during the Bulldogs’ 2012 season and finished with a 9-3 record and a 2.60 earned run average over 59 1/3 innings pitched this season. He also played infield and was one of the team’s leading batters with a .375 average, including three home runs for the year.

Junior pitcher Jonah Wesely received SJAA Pitcher of the Year honors for the second year in a row. He led the SJAA in strikeouts, with 63 strikeouts over 29 1/3 innings of league play.
Wesely had a 5-1 record with a 0.95 ERA over 37 innings this year, which includes three no-hitters and only six base hits for the season.
Senior center fielder Tanner Turner, a four-year varsity player, was the SJAA’s Offensive Player of the year. He had a .450 batting average in 15 games of league play, .461 over the full 30-game season. He also had 23 stolen bases in 25 attempts in the full season.
Tracy senior Jake Shull was named first-team catcher. He threw out 12 runners trying to steal during the full season and was also the Bulldogs’ home run leader with seven on the season. He also led the Bulldogs in RBIs with 30 for the season.
Also on the all-SJAA list for the Bulldogs is senior third baseman Matt Loscavio, SJAA second team. He batted .346 for the season, had 17 stolen bases, and batted in 23 runs. Honorable mentions include seniors Kenny Bergmann, Devon Denholm, Chase Johnson and Reilly Oki, and junior David Miranda.
Tracy (24-6, 14-1 SJAA) finished first in the league’s regular season standings and lost in the third round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I South playoffs
Central California Athletic Alliance
Millennium High’s Austin Larson led the all-Central California Athletic Alliance selections as the co-Most Valuable Player selection for 2012.
Larson was the Falcons’ leading pitcher with a 9-1 record and a 1.30 earned run average over 54 innings. He struck out 40 batters, including 25 in his five wins during the 10-game league season. Larson was also the Falcons’ leading batter with a .421 average over 27 games, which included 40 base hits and 31 runs batted-in.
He splits the MVP honor with Austin Vickers of Elliot Christian.
Millennium senior outfielder Drew Carroll was named to the first team. He was the Falcons’ leading batter with a .424 average, 36 hits and 22 RBIs over 28 games.
Second-team players from Millennium include junior infielder Gavin Compton, who batted .395, sophomore infielder and pitcher Spencer Blackwell, who batted .362 and had a 6-3 record on the mound and an ERA of 3.76, and senior infielder Daniel Yanez, who batted .291. Senior infielder Jose Avila, who batted .347, received honorable mention.
The Falcons went 20-8 for the year, including a 9-1 record in the CCAA, a share of the league title, and they went to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII championship game and finished as Division VII runner-up.
Tri-City Athletic League
West High’s all-Tri-City Athletic League first-team selections include shortstop and pitcher Jalen Ransome. He batted .515 for the season. Catcher Chase Martinez, who batted .533, made the first team as well.
Second-team players from West were sophomore third baseman Garrett Speckmann, who batted .391, and senior first baseman Rafael Tijero, who batted .435. Honorable mention was senior Johnny Gori, who batted .333.
West (7-11, 6-4 TCAL) finished in third place in the league.
Mountain Valley League
Six players from the Delta Charter Dragons baseball team were named to the all-Mountain Valley League list this week.
Senior Clark Moniz was the leading batter in the MVL with a batting average of .476 and a slugging percentage of .762. Darren Silva batted .448 and was among the top three batters in the MVL. Junior Tyler Daugherty batted .375 and had 11 stolen bases in 11 attempts, and freshman pitcher Jonathan Palmer had a 3.06 earned run average. Honorable mentions were sophomores Justin Rudnick and Andrew Silva.
Delta Charter’s team awards include Daugherty as the most valuable player and senior Ravon Irvin was the team’s most improved player. Darren Silva won the team’s Dragon award, which goes to the player who exemplifies inspiration, sportsmanship and leadership. Dragons coach Steve Abercrombie was named Coach of the Year.
The Dragons went 5-6 for the season and won the MVL title with a 4-2 league record.
Valley Oak League
Five Kimball High players were included on the all-Valley Oak League list. Junior outfielder Kris Bartlett was the Jaguars’ offensive leader and the teams’ only first-team pick. He batted .421 over 17 games and had 24 base hits and 18 runs batted-in. Catcher Zack Perugi made the second team. He batted .409 over 17 games.
Honorable mentions were pitchers Cody Wagner, a senior, who went 5-2 for the year and had a 4.32 earned run average over 48 2/3 innings. Junior pitcher Alec Barba went 3-4 for the year and had and ERA of 5.25 over 30 2/3 innings. Senior infielder Blake Cichella batted .341 over 15 games.
Kimball finished 10-8 overall and went 6-8 for fifth place in the VOL.
