Kimball High has three athletes who have already qualified in field events for the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters track and field meet next week, and could advance more to athletes to the event.

Kimball High hurdler Chloe Jenkins is the top-seed going into the final heats of the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles at the SJS Division IV-V meet at Modesto Junior College on Thursday, May 17, and can advance to the Masters meet with strong performances. She won her qualifying heats — 15.77 seconds in the 100 hurdles and 47.21 in the 300 hurdles — at Division IV-V trials on Tuesday, May 15.

Already moving on to Masters, in Elk Grove on Thursday, May 24, and Friday, May 25, is Jaleyah Douglass, winner of the discus throw. Her throw of 129 feet, 4 inches automatically entered her in the Masters meet by virtue of beating the section’s at-large qualifying standard of 104-4.

The Masters also took the top-six from each event at the Division IV-V meet on Tuesday. These include Cara McClain, fourth place in the girls discus (107-3), and Derek Van de Streek, sixth place in the boys triple jump (43-02).

Other Kimball athletes set to compete on Thursday include both girls relay teams — the 4x100-meter relay squad of Jenkins, Zaniah Bradshaw, Amber Moody and Jasmine Aivaliotis (fifth seed 51.96) and the 4x400 team of Jenkins, Jemiyah Castro, Makenna Strope and Kayla Franklin (ninth seed 4:24.27).
