A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 15, for Virginia Macedo, 88, a homemaker and longtime Tracy resident, who died May 5 at UC Davis Hospital in Sacramento.

Mrs. Macedo was a native of the Azores, born Feb. 22, 1924, and lived 22 years in Tracy. She was a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children, Maria Pacheco, and her husband, Francisco, and Dulcina Serda, and her husband, Victor, all of Tracy, Jose Carreiro, and his wife, Honorika, Daniel Silva, and his wife, Conceicao, and Veneranda Serpa, and her husband, Joe, all of Fremont, Leonor Arruda, and her husband, Jose, of Sacramento and Virginia Silva of Brazil; three siblings, Abel Macedo and Hortencia Macedo, both of Canada, and Esmeria Macedo of Sao Miguel, Azores; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 36 years, Jacinto Silva; and three sisters, Maria dos Santos Macedo, Evelina Macedo and Etelvira Macedo.

Tuesday’s Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s, 163 W. Eaton Ave., followed by committal at Tracy Cemetery, 600 E. Schulte Road. Visitation will be observed from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 5788 Thornton Ave., in Newark, followed immediately by a rosary service.
