Dance teams bring top awards back from Cupertino

Triple Threat Performing Arts of Tracy brought back three top awards from the Hall of Fame Dance Challenge at the Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino on April 28 and 29.

Triple Threat’s “Blowin’ Up” jazz group won the platinum award in the age 9-to-11 small-groups division. Team members include Jewelleanna Ellsworth, Dexter Ellsworth, Angelleanna Ellsworth, Gabrielle Fermin, Marissa Peinado, Julia Bent, Isabella Aguilar and Cassandra York.

Triple Threat’s hip-hop teen group, “Drizzy,” gained a gold rating as it placed first overall in the age 12-to-14 large-group division. Team members are Elizabeth Melgoza, Isabella Aguilar, Julia Bent, Gabrielle Fermin, Haley Fry, Dexter Ellsworth, Owen Opperman, Kaylee Tota, Brittany Cuevas and Marinna Contreras.

The local studio’s “Let It Go” group took fourth overall, with a high gold award, for a lyrical routine in the age 12-to-14 small-group division. Team members are Isabella Aguilar, Julia Bent, Gabrielle Fermin, Haley Fry, Haley Mathews, Elizabeth Melgoza and Cassandra York.
