According to Tracy Police Department Detective Craig Kootstra, the front door was unlocked when the three men entered the house on the 500 block of West Kavanagh Avenue just after midnight Monday.
The victim and his friends were watching a basketball game on television when the men entered, Kootstra said. The alleged robbers took the cellphones of the four people and then fled the house, the detective added.
The three other people in the house told police they couldn’t identify the men because the gunmen were trying to hide their faces. Kootstra said police hope the victim will be able to provide them with more information about the shooting. The victim is expected to make a full recovery, Kootstra said, but police haven’t been able to extensively interview him.
“Trying to figure out why the three men were there,” he said Tuesday. “We don’t know why this happened.”
Kootstra asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the Tracy Police Department at 831-4550
