The Wolf Pack had a 7-1 lead at the end of four innings when the visiting Vikings rallied for five runs and got within one run.
Martinez got the Wolf Pack back on track in the fifth inning with a two-RBI double in the in a five-run inning for the team. West (7-8 overall, 6-2 Tri-City Athletic League) scored three more runs in the sixth for the win.
Jalen Ransome had three base hits, including a double, Rafael Tijero had two hits and three RBIs, and Jack Kelly singled and doubled against the Vikings (2-19, 0-8).
Nick Gandall pitched the first four innings and gave up two hits and an unearned run and struck out five batters, Steven Riley pitched one inning and gave up five runs, two of them earned, on two hits, and Kevin Oetken finished the game, giving up one hit over two innings.
Delta Charter 6, Holt College Prep Academy 5
The Dragon batters finally came through in the late innings against Holt College Prep Academy on Thursday, May 3, in Stockton for the close win.
Jordan Serna’s fourth inning triple to right field put Delta Charter back in the game. Ravon Irwin drove in Serna with a single, and the Dragons made it a 4-4 tie at the end of seven and then eventually won after eight innings.
Andrew Silva started the eighth inning for the Dragons with a single to right and then stole second before scoring on an error.
Darren Silva drove in the final run with a single to right. Tyler Daugherty had two hits and two stolen bases. Darren Silva and Clark Moniz also had hits and an RBI each.
The Dragons denied the Knights a chance to keep the game going when they made a play at home on a steal attempt to get the final out.
Delta Charter pitchers came to play as three pitchers combined to allow only three earned runs and six hits.
Tyler Daugherty worked the first the innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits and struck out four Holt batters. Justin Rudnick pitched the next four and allowed one earned run on three hits and struck out five batters for the win, picking up the win. Darren Silva worked the extra frame and gave up one earned run on one hit for the save.
Sophomores: West 11, Edison 1
West pitcher Tyler Durant allowed three hits and struck out six batters in the Wolf Pack's 11-1 win over Edison on Friday, May 4, at West High.
West had nine hits, including RBI singles for Gabe Culver, Brian Noble, Justin Watzke, and Devin Bell, plus six walks, and four batters hit by pitches to round the bases. The win puts West at 3-3-1 in the Tri-City Athletic League.
Sophomores: West 12, Edison 0
Michael Alameda struck out six batters and allowed no hits or runs over three innings for a win Wednesday, May 2, at Edison High.
Devin Bell pitched two innings of relief, gave up one hit and struck out three batters. West had 11 hits for the day, including a single and a double Brody Kooreman, two hits for A.J. Lowe and a double for Bell.
Freshmen: Tracy 9, West 3
Tracy starting pitcher Robbie Ramirez went five innings on Friday, May 4, and gave up two hits and no runs and struck out five West batters, on score the Bulldogs the win. Jacob Alvarado and Daniel Canada both pitched relief. Brandon Russell got two hits, including a two-RBI double to get Tracy on the scoreboard in the first inning. Taylor Mellick, Jorge Huerta and Ramirez each batted in runs in the second.
West scored on Carter Nott’s two run homer in the fourth inning, and on Alex Camarillo’s RBI base hit in the fifth.
