Baseball: Wesely, Bulldogs lock up SJAA title

Junior pitcher Jonah Wesely struck out 17 Bear Creek batters and allowed two hits on Thursday, May 3, in a 3-0 win at Bear Creek High in Stockton.

The victory makes Tracy a lock for the 2012 San Joaquin Athletic Association title.

The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the third inning and took until the sixth inning for Tracy to get two more runs for a comfortable lead.

Cody Daniel doubled twice to lead the Bulldogs at the plate on Thursday and the Bulldogs collected seven hits in all. The win puts Tracy at 20-4, 12-1 in the San Joaquin Athletic Association

Bear Creek is 9-14, 4-9 in the SJAA.



Sophomores: Tracy 4, Bear Creek 2

C.J. Butcher’s two-RBI double highlighted the Bulldogs’ three-run sixth inning, when Tracy took back Thursday’s game at Bear Creek High in Stockton and finished with the win.

Starting pitcher Josh Brakkee allowed two runs, neither of them earned, over five innings, and got the win. Anthony Nunez allowed no runs or hits and struck out two batters in two innings. Tracy got six hits, including two singles for Ryan Vares. Defensive plays included Michael Motyka catch for the final out in the seventh inning.
