Tracy High’s golfers just barely beat Lodi on Monday, April 30, at the San Joaquin Athletic Association championship tournament to affirm the Bulldogs’ fifth consecutive SJAA title.

Tracy’s win at Lockeford Springs Golf Course in Lodi also closed out the second consecutive perfect league season for the Bulldogs (10-0).

The victory was close, with Tracy winning by one point (421) over Lodi (422). Tracy’s Anthony Napoli was second overall with a score of 77 on the par-72 course, four strokes behind first-place finisher Cole Range of Lodi (73).

The Bulldogs’ lead golfers, Giovanni Manguray and Robert Erler, shot 88 and 89 respectively. Shivam Swamy shot 82, Alec Stroup 85, and Talon Simmons shot 97.

Tracy’s entire team will move on to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I South tournament Monday, May 7, at Dry Creek Ranch Golf Course in Galt.

West High

West High golfers heading to the Division I South tournament are Austin Smith and Nick Carrera. Smith shot 92 and Carrera shot 99 on Monday at the Tri-City Athletic League tournament on Monday at Oakmoore Golf Course in Stockton.

West’s Bryce Noegel also shot 99, but missed qualifying for the division tournament after his teammate Carrera won a playoff hole at the end. Other scores for West golfers include Garrett Morris, 107, and Huruy Zeratsion, 141.

Also heading to the Division I South tournament are the full teams from St. Mary’s, the league champion, and Tokay, the league runner-up, and two golfers each from Stagg and McNair.
