Three football players from West High, one from Tracy and one from Kimball will all be on the same team in June when they play in the 39th Annual Central California Lions All Star Football Game.

The annual tradition brings high school seniors together for one more game with the players who have been their fiercest rivals during four years of prep football.

This year’s North team will include West High running back Patrick Thompson, winner of the 2011 John C. Kimball Award, which is the Wolf Pack team’s top honor. Lineman Devon Hutchins is also on the North team, as is defensive back Elisha Mitchell.

The first-ever Kimball player to make the all-star team is linebacker Chris Sampino, who has been with the Jaguar team since its first year as a junior varsity squad in 2009. Tracy is represented by offensive lineman Pablo Ceja, a three-year varsity player for the Bulldogs and a member of the San Joaquin Athletic Association first team.

Brian Gray of Lincoln High in Stockton will be the North team’s coach, and Rich Alkire of Beyer High in Merced will be the South team’s coach.

Players and coaches will meet this weekend for a banquet hosted by the Lions at the Stockton Italian Athletic Club on Saturday night, April 28. The All Star game will be a 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at Modesto Junior College.
