During the next couple months, wrestlers from Tracy USA Wrestling club will be preparing for freestyle and Greco state tournaments.

Two Tracy area youth wrestlers, Eli Blackwell and Gregory Viloria, both state medalists last year, have again qualified for state level competition. Both have also qualified for the SJWA championship based on their performance in several tournaments already this season.

In other competition, several wrestlers medaled in the San Joaquin Wrestling Association regional freestyle and Greco tournament a couple weeks ago at Bear Creek High in Stockton. The tournament included divisions for youth, high school, collegiate, and open/senior level competitors.

In adult and high school ages, Zach Blackwell wrestled in both the Junior (18-and under) and Open (any age) divisions going undefeated with an 8-0 record and taking home gold in both Greco and freestyle. Noah Blackwell wrestled in the Cadet division (16-and-under) and also wrestled up an age division (18-and-under) to take second in Greco, in a loss to his brother Zach Blackwell.

In the youth levels, Riley Revino placed first in Greco and third in freestyle in the Intermediate (10-and-under) division. Riley is in his second year and is expected to compete at this year’s state tournament. Eli Blackwell placed first in the Freestyle tournament in the Novice (12-and-under) division.
