The West Valley Wolves semipro football team is starting to get attention on the national scene, now that the Tracy squad is proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the Pacific Coast Football League.

The Minor League Football News ranked the Wolves as the No. 34 semipro team in the nation after a Saturday, April 21, league win over the Redding Heat in Redding.

It was the dynamic duo of running back Dominic Miller and quarterback Teddy Anderson who shouldered the load for the emerging Tracy team.

Miller carried the ball 19 times for 154 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Wolves (4-2), while Anderson also scored two touchdowns.

Miller scored on a 21-yard run in the first quarter, and Anderson scored on a 26-yard run to make it 12-0 before the Heat scored two touchdowns for a 14-12 lead at the half.

The second half, however, was all Wolves.

Miller scored on a 30-yard run and again on a 5-yard run. Anderson scored the Wolves’ fifth touchdown on a 6-yard run with no time left in the game.

Their game on offense was matched by a defensive effort that forced numerous Redding turnovers.

Defensive back Noel Calbert had five tackles and two interceptions; Louis Gaskin made five tackles and a fumble recovery; Eric Spivey made three tackles to go with a fumble recovery and an interception; and Michael Hogan lead the defense with 9.5 tackles.

Next up for the Wolves will be the Roseville Bears at Del Oro High School in Loomis.
