John Lastowski

World War II and Korean War veteran John Lastowski, 85, a 51-year resident of Tracy, died Friday, April 20, at Tracy Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center.

Services were conducted Thursday, April 26.

Born Jan. 20, 1927, in Hinsdale, N.H., Mr. Lastowski served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked 40 years as a loader and driver for Ralph Hayes & Son Fertilizer Co.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Virginia Lastowski of Tracy; a brother, Rudy Lastowski, and his wife, Mary, of Northampton, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

Six brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave., handled arrangements. Burial was in Tracy Cemetery, 600 E. Schulte Road.

Contributions in Mr. Lastowski’s name may be sent to Tracy Animal Shelter, 370 Arbor Road; or Tracy Volunteer Caregivers, 1126 El Portal Ave., Ste. 105.
