I'm not sure what is more ridiculous, the caller asking the police to come find his/her cell phone or the police actually responding to a call like that. On the surface it's an obvious waste of police resources.
I can't get the police to ticket speeding drivers, or those that run the stop sign repeatedly and during go to school hours, or ticket the people tearing up the grass in the city park, but they have time to go search for a cell phone?
I'm stunned.
was eventually met with the following...
"1:34 p.m.: A woman reported a small snake in her garden on the 1100 block of Dominique Drive."
The anonymous caller then confessed "sometimes my husband gets them mixed up.."
"1:02 a.m.: A police dog team searched the 1100 block of Hepburn Court for a missing cellphone. The dog indicated the scent of the phone was in the area, but police speculated it might be up a nearby tree.""
Coincidentally the following report may be connected:
"12:16 p.m.: A store clerk reported someone used counterfeit money to buy a scooter on the 400 block of Charlemagne Lane. He said a woman came in the day before and purchased a scooter for $650 and he just realized the money was counterfeit."
Police dogs got a strike on the set cushion... and inevitably called the whole thing off...
Um...what? When I lose my phone, I just call it and follow the sound. Silly me. Then again, I don't usually leave it in a tree.
Seriously? A cell phone? Up a tree? The comment for this sort of waste is painfully obvious!
