Tracy High’s softball team (14-4 overall, 1-2 San Joaquin Athletic Association) was unable to overcome Bear Creek’s early lead in a 5-2 loss on Friday, April 20, at the Tracy Sports Complex.

The Bruins (12-5-1, 3-0) got on the scoreboard with a run in the first inning. And with three base hits and two walks in the second, they had a 5-0 lead.

Tracy’s defense held up after that, even as the Bruins collected more base hits, only to get left stranded in scoring position.

The Bulldogs were able to bring in a run in the fourth inning when Alee Balanon hit a ground-rule double to center field and came home on Julia Fernandez’ double to left-center.

Ellie Fisher scored in the fifth for Tracy, making it home on a hit by Brianna Warner and a subsequent sacrifice fly by Angela Mariani.

Balanon and Fernandez each had two hits for the day, and Fisher and Haley Nunes both had infield singles. Tayler Misfeldt pitched all seven innings, struck out four and gave up 11 hits for the loss.
