Kimball 3, Oakdale 3

The Jaguars had to regroup at the half to come away with a 3-3 tie Monday, April 16, at Oakdale.

Kimball coach Ron Hattley said that the tie, which keeps Oakdale and Kimball tied for third in the Valley Oak League at 4-3-1, was a good outcome.

“Coming back from being down by three goals against a proven playoff foe represents a big step forward for us,” Hattley said.

The Mustangs took a quick lead with goals from Jessica Gomez and Jill Kahler in the first 10 minutes.

Kimball’s best chances to score in the first half included a couple narrow misses and Amber Lennier’s free kick, which Oakdale’s goalie blocked.

Kahler scored again for the Mustangs with five minutes left in the first half to put Oakdale up, 3-0.

Kimball started its comeback four minutes into the second half, as Natalie Lambert scored on an assist from Taylor Hopkins.

Also getting in on the act was Adaurie Dayak, who had been on the bench with a sore knee. She came in to score in the 53rd minute on an assist from Katie Little, and again in the 58th minute on an assist from Lambert.

The Jaguars’ defense also stiffened in the second half, with goalie Tayler Lennier finishing the game with 12 saves.
