Two local youths are headed to the national level of the USA Water Polo Olympic Development Program.

Madeline Loggins and Kor Hurst — both seventh-graders at Hawkins School in Tracy and members of Stockton Water Polo club — are among the athletes chosen for the ODP’s National Team Selection Camp, which will be May 25 through 28 in Southern California.

Loggins will attend the eighth-grade-and-under camp at Oceanview High School in Huntington Beach. Hurst will attend the eighth-grade-and-under camp at UC Irvine. Each camp will have about 50 players, and all will be trying out for a spot among the top 28 at each camp. Those select groups will attend the USA Water Polo’s National Team Camp, June 25 to 28.

Hurst was selected for the May camp based on his performance at the Pacific Coast Championships in early March in Clovis. Loggins attended the girls championships in March in Long Beach. At each camp, the players were divided into teams and played in tournaments to show their skills.
