• Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, at Big Valley Grace Community Church, 4040 Tully Road, in Modesto, for former Tracy resident Jane Tally Johnston, 60. She died Friday, April 13, in a Sacramento hospital after being stricken the night before while driving from Modesto to the Sacramento airport. • Robert Lee Paris Jr., 53, a Tracy native and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputy, was killed in the line of duty Thursday in Modesto. Services will begin at noon Friday at Big Valley Community Church, 4040 Tully Road, in Modesto, followed by a procession from the church to Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., in Hughson, for a graveside service. Arrangements will be handled by Franklin & Downs Funeral Home in Modesto. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Paris’ name may be sent to Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation, www.cbtf.org.
• Joseph Dooman, 82, a longtime Tracy resident and U.S. Navy veteran, died April 4. All services were private. Arrangements were handled by Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. • Ysmael “Smiley” Gonzalez, 80, a former Tracy resident who was a Purple Heart veteran of the Korean War, died April 3 at home in Yamhill, Ore. A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, April 14, at St. John Catholic Church in Yamhill. Burial with full military honors was at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Forest Grove, Ore. The family prefers memorial contributions to the St. Vincent Medical Foundation, c/o Heart and Vascular Institute, 9205 S.W. Barnes Road, Portland, OR 97225; or the American Diabetes Association, Oregon and Southwest Washington, 4380 S.W. Macadam Ave., Portland, OR 97239.
