Baseball: Falcons open Turlock tourney with loss

Ripon Christian 7, Millennium 5

The Millennium baseball team opened the Turlock Christian Tournament with the loss on Thursday to Ripon Christian. Ripon Christian batters hit home runs in the first and second innings to take a 6-0 lead.

Gavin Compton hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning for the Falcons. Millennium also scored one run in each the fifth and sixth innings to cut Ripon Chrisitian’s lead to 7-6. But the Knights scored another run in the bottom of the seventh to but the game out of reach.

Falcons starting pitcher Spencer Blackwell gave up seven hits and six runs in two innings in the loss. Gavin Compton pitched four innings and gave up four hits, one run and struck out six. He also led Millennium at the plate with a double and a homer while Tanner Carroll also had two base hits for the day. The loss puts the Falcons at 10-5 for the season.
