Kimball 13, Weston Ranch 6

The Jaguars racked up 22 base hits in Tuesday’s 13-6 win at Weston Ranch High in Stockton. Kimball (10-4, 5-2 VOL) looked like it could wrap up the game early, taking a 10-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Cougars (8-6, 2-5 VOL) got their break in the bottom of the fourth, though, and scored four runs to stay alive for all seven innings. Weston Ranch had just four hits for the day, but the Cougars also benefitted from five Kimball errors.

Starting pitcher Alexis Lopez got her eighth win of the season after she went three innings and gave up no runs or hits. Kayla Chelman gave up four runs, three of them earned, on three hits, and Danielle Lallos gave up two unearned runs on one hit and four walks.

Llesenia Torres had four hits, including two doubles and a triple, and she batted in five runs, Taylor Honnoll had four hits, including two doubles, Katelyn Bomar had three hits and batted in two runs, Samantha Sanders tripled twice and doubled, Gabbi Cox had three hits, Arianna Hawkins singled, tripled and batted in three, Montanna Bradley doubled and singled and Danielle Lallos tripled.

Sophomores: Kimball 17, Weston Ranch 2

Kimball’s sophomores are tied for first with Oakdale, both 6-0-1 in the Valley Oak Leauge, after the Jaguars took a 17-2 win at Weston Ranch on Tuesday. Priscilla Franco pitched the entire game for the Jaguars for the win, Haley Shuey singled twice, doubled and batted in four runs, Sammy Vargas homered and singled and Alyssa Lewis also homered.

St. Mary’s 9, West 6

The Wolf Pack made an early comeback against visiting St. Mary’s Tuesday at West High, but the West team (8-7, 2-1 TCAL) couldn’t take full advantage of its six hits and eight walks for the day. The Rams (15-1, 2-0 TCAL) collected eight hits and five walks, starting the game off with a five-run rally in the first inning.

West scored four in the bottom of the first with Jill Anastasio and Ciara Ervin batting in runs, and Miranda Gannon with a single up the middle to bring in two.

“We tried our hardest to come back, but it was not our day today,” Gannon said, adding that she saw solid hitting from other teammates as well.

The St. Mary’s defense was still able to hold back West and closed the inning with the bases loaded. The Rams scored another in the fourth, and West scored on in the fourth on Ervin’s RBI double to deep left-center.

The Rams’ three-run fifth inning included a double, a triple and Jenna Kniss’ two-run home run over the right field fence. West again left two runners in scoring position in the sixth, and scored one more in the seventh when Gannon hit a sacrifice grounder.

“We gave up some runs early, but it’s always going to be a battle between these two teams,” West coach Steve Anastasio said. “Last year we won the first game, they won the second game, so hopefully we can return the favor when we go there.”

Other hits for West included two singles for Celina Carrisosa and singles for Ashley Tornio and Jessica Anastasio. West starting pitcher Kasey Cota went four innings and gave up six runs on five hits for the loss. Amandy Riley pitched three innings and gave up three runs on three hits. The Rams’ Randee Hindman went all seven innings for the win.

Sophomores: St. Mary’s 5, West 2

St. Mary’s had a 5-0 lead in the third inning when West got on the scoreboard with Haley Hollis’ solo home run. She was the Wolf Pack’s leading batter with three hits for the day, including a hit in the sixth when West scored again. Jessica Rasmussen had two hits and Kayla Lopez and Justina Farfan also had hits. Farfan pitched for West, going all seven innings. She struck out 11 batters and gave up five runs, two of them earned, and four hits for the loss.

Tracy 9, Franklin 0

Tracy High’s softball team opened the San Joaquin Athletic Association season with a 9-0 win Tuesday at Franklin High in Stockton. Julia Fernandez pitched seven innings and struck out 14 batters, and allowed just three hits for the day.

Leading Tracy at the plate was Ellie Fisher with three hits and an RBI. Jazmin Clarke tripled, doubled and drove in two runs, Brianna Warner singled twice and batted in two runs, Tayler Misfeldt singled and batted in three runs, and Fernandez doubled.

The win puts Tracy at 12-2 overall and 1-0 in the SJAA. Franklin is 3-9 and 0-1 in league.

Sophomores: Tracy 11, Franklin 0

Tracy’s sophomore softball team won its first league game 11-0 at Franklin on Tuesday. Rebekah Delarosa pitched five innings and allowed no hits, three walks and she struck out nine batters. Leading Tracy at the plate was Kristen Olson with a home run, two doubles and six RBIs, Kimberly Paschal singled twice and batted in three runs, Delarosa singled twice and Lyndsee Cracraft singled. The win puts Tracy at 12-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the SJAA.

Freshmen: Kimball 4, Tracy 4

Kimball’s girls kept coming back as the Jaguars and Bulldog freshman teams played to a 4-4 tie on Thursday, April 5, at Kimball High. A series of base hits for Kimball in the bottom of the seventh put the game into extra innings, but it was called a draw after both sides were retired in the eighth inning.

Kimball’s Tahnee Trew pitched all eight innings, gave up eight hits and struck out eight batters. She also homered and doubled. Matteya Hobbs homered and batted in two, Hailey Hummel singled twice, and Danika Peterson, Kiana Schober, Jalna Burton and Pooja RamanKutty all singled.

Leanna Martinez pitched the first five innings for Tracy and gave up three runs and struck out 10 batters, and Sienna Rubio pitched the last three, gave up a run and four hits and struck out four. Madison Ledda homered and singled, Jillian Bessette and Alison Fort both singled twice, and Peyton Davis and Kayla Odgers both singled.
