Tracy 6, Bear Creek 1
Tracy High’s baseball team stayed atop the San Joaquin Athletic Association standings with a 6-1 win on Tuesday at Bear Creek High in Stockton. The Bruins (6-8, 1-3 SJAA) started off with a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Bulldogs (11-3, 4-0 SJAA) took control of the game with a four-run fifth inning and scored two more in the sixth to seal the win.
Tracy collected 11 hits for the day, including a three-run homer for Jake Shull in the fifth. Matt Loscavio, Tanner Turner and Cody Daniel each had two hits for the day, and Loscavio batted in two runs. Devon Denholm tripled, and David Miranda, John Jaeger and Kenny Bergmann all singled.
Denholm pitched all seven innings and gave up one unearned run and three hits and struck out nine Bruin batters. for the win.
Delta Charter 11, Tioga 1
A six-run rally in the fourth inning gave the Delta Charter Dragons a Mountain Valley League win over Tioga on Tuesday at Tracy Ball Park. Staring pitcher Tyler Daugherty went four innings and allowed two hits and one run and struck out six batters. Justin Rudnick came in for the fifth and sixth innings, struck out three and didn’t allow any hits or runs.
Rudnick also doubled and tripled and batted in three runs, Daugherty had four hits including a double and batted in a run, Clark Moniz had four hits and batted in two runs, Jonathan Palmer doubled and singled twice and batted in two, and James Prime and Andrew Silva also had hits.
Sophomores: Tracy 7, Bear Creek 6
Tracy’s sophomores had to hold off a determined Bear Creek team in Stockton on Tuesday. Tracy had a 5-3 lead after five innings, but the Bruins scored one in the sixth, and the Bulldogs scored two in the top of the seventh to make it a 7-4 game. Bear Creek scored two in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run on third when closing pitcher Aaron Deholm came in with two out. The batter hit a hard line drive, and Cameron Pham was in position to catch it for the last out.
Starting pitcher Josh Brakkee went five innings and allowed three runs on three hits, and struck out four for the win. Chaz Samaniego went 1 2/3 innings and gave up three runs and three hits.
Ryan Vares put his bunting skills to work for two base hits, Clayton Fegett had a hit and a sacrifice fly, Josh Brakkee singled and doubled, and C.J. Butcher had a base hit and drove in Tracy’s seventh run in the top of the seventh inning.
