Softball: West back in control with win at Chavez

West 13, Chavez 0

The Wolf Pack softball came back from a series of losses last week to take a 13-0 win in Stockton against the Titans from Chavez High on Monday. West pitchers Amanda Riley and Kacey Cota limited Chavez to one hit for the day and the West batters finished the game early, scoring in every inning with a five-run rally in the top of the fifth.

West had 15 hits for the day. Miranda Gannon doubled and singled twice, Jessica Anastasio had three hits, Ciara Ervin led off the first inning with a triple and also singled

Shelby Weeks and Jill Anastasio had two hits each, and Jenae Koski, Ashley Tornio, Celina Carrisosa and Jalissa Sims all had hits.

West’s 6-5 record includes a 1-3 outing at the Rivals Unite to Fight Breast Cancer tournament at Arnaiz Fields last week, where the Wolf Pack lost 10-0 to Lincoln, beat Lodi 8-2, lost 6-5 to Tracy, and lost 9-6 to Bear Creek.

Freshmen: Kimball 23, West 1

Tahnee Trew pitched her second no-hitter in a row as she struck out eight batters in five innings and allowed one walk Friday at Kimball High. She also doubled twice and batted in three runs, Arielle Early tripled, singled and batted in three runs, Hayley Hummel and Danika Peterson each singled twice and each batted in three runs, Sahra Tatum singled and batted in a run, Kiana Schober singled and stole four bases, and Brittney Lis singled and stole three bases.
