Today’s Remember When “mystery photo,” top left, shows a candidate for public office, seated center, with Tracy supporters in October 1980. Who was the candidate, for what office was he a candidate and who were his local backers?

Last week’s Remember When “mystery photo,” bottom left, showed Tracyites getting ready for Heart Sunday 40 years ago — in February 1972.

In the foreground are Bill Pollard Sr., Tracy chairman, and Teresa Linn DeVine, Heart Sunday theme girl. Standing are volunteers Frieda Wampler (left) and Shirley DeVine.

Some 30 volunteers canvassed Tracy neighborhoods, collecting contributions to the Heart Fund and distributing information on heart health.

Richard Hoerntlein identified his aunt, Shirley DeVine, and his cousin, Theresa DeVine. Among others responding to the photo were Cynthia Van Hagen and Julie Curran-Mattos.
